AGAWAM, Mass, October 18, 2011 –Governors America Corp. (GAC), a leader in innovative controls for the industrial engine market, announced today that it is celebrating its twenty-fifth year providing  solutions to a customer base spanning the globe. Over the last twenty-five years GAC has gained a sound reputation and is recognized as a worldwide leader in the industry by developing a broad, technically advanced line of electronic governing and fuel control systems.

In the true entrepreneurial spirit, Governors America Corp. was founded in 1986 in a small rented space (the size of their current shipping dock-1500 sq. ft.) that was rented in Springfield Massachusetts.  Faced with growing sales and the need for more space, in 1991 the company moved to their current location in Agawam Massachusetts.  However, they quickly outgrew the original 6,000 sq.ft. space, which prompted multiple expansions and additions to the physical plant over the years.  The latest addition was completed in 2008, resulting in a total of 67,000 sq. ft and a work-force of nearly 130 employees.   In 2006, GAC further diversified its product lines and tapped into the Genset and Fuel Ignition Management Systems in addition to the digital direction of the engine governing market.

"I am proud to celebrate this landmark achievement as it represents our resilience in an ever-changing industry as well as the impact we have had on the lives of our employees," said William Ferry,. owner, chief engineer and chief executive officer of Governors America Corp.  "I credit this milestone to our unique ability to create innovative solutions for our clients that enable them to maximize the performance of their product which gives them a competitive edge.” "The technology evolution has not shown any signs of slowing down and GAC hasn't either. We will continue to develop innovative digital products and control solutions. This will enable our clients to keep pace and obtain full value from their technology investments.”

In addition to the impressive manufacturing facility in Agawam, MA, GAC is opening its first international business center in Yantai, Shandong province, China to better support the growing international market in Asia.  By co-locating GAC offices near some of its larger OEM customers, it will allow better service and enhance sales capabilities.  This facility will meet all of GAC quality standards and showcase the efficiency and talent that GAC has to offer the worldwide market.

"It has been a great twenty-five years but we don't plan to rest on the accomplishments that have made us a respected engine control provider to the world," said Sean Collins, GAC’s newly appointed President. “We are a fully integrated company, we can take discussions with a customer on a concept to a robust design process, prototype build and testing and into full production; we have the capabilities to tackle the most challenging projects.  We invest in our physical plant capacity and our talented employees to get the product out to market.”  “GAC will continue to provide solutions that fit the aggressive needs of the industrial marketplace in critical applications where quality is not an option.”
