The Applications Engineer is the primary customer contact for the selection and application of all GAC products to GAC’s customer base and will provide telephone and email support helping customers install, configure and utilize our products, thus will be required to have a strong understanding of all GAC products and how it is applied in the industrial engine market. This position will be responsible for interfacing with the customer, identifying their application requirements, and specifying the best GAC system for their application. This position will be responsible for answering potential customers’ technical questions and as an expert in our product line, will be called on periodically to answer questions from our field sales force, representatives, and distributors.  This position will require travel to the customer site to support our representatives and large potential customers.  The ultimate goal is to solve the customers’ application problem and winning the customers confidence and future business. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. 

Maintain and communicate industry-best knowledge of technical trends driving our (and end-use) markets and competition.

Participate in weekly training sessions, to provide training and share in technical expertise and experiences with other Applications Engineers and Market Managers to provide an expanding level of capability within the corporation.

Provide customer feedback on technical issues, product improvements, and/or potential new product developments to the responsible Market Manager or the Vice President Marketing for evaluation and consideration for product improvement/development.

 

Write application notes, and co-author technical papers. Write detailed specifications and application notes for new products and applications.

 

Work closely with the Market Manager in the development and identifying of new products by providing customer feedback and technical input for the creation of Product Marketing Data Sheet.  Identify and share in the responsibility to enhance the company's competitive advantage and reduce barriers (by product).

 

Provide technical support for sales and marketing by assisting the Advertising Manager in the development and expansion of a GAC Application Solution Guide data base to be maintained in the Engineering Released Directory. Contribute content to technical collateral materials by working with the Marketing Managers and Advertising Managers with the creation and development of product documentation (PTI, PIB, and PUG) by providing technical write-ups on new and existing products as required.

Provide the Advertising Manager with a monthly summary of the various customer applications, the stated problem, along with the final resolution and assist in creating, maintaining and updating a web-based FAQ data base.

As the key technical expert for all GAC products the position is the primary customer contact for resolving application issues in a timely manner for both analog and digital GAC products.  Provide hardware, software, and firmware solutions/upgrades as required by having hands on lab work.

 

Assist customers with proper product selection of GAC products for their application.  Provide product pricing in accordance with GAC guidelines (PMB7440) or for established customer, the discount level as identified in M2M.

Design and de-bug demonstration and or evaluation hardware for now products ad gather data needed for competitive analysis or product development direction.

 

Some travel will be required to provide technical assistance to select customers on resolving their application issues.

   Other duties and tasks may be assigned as required by the Vice President Marketing.

Excellent communication skills written and spoken – clear and concise - with English as the first language.

o                   Ability and willingness to work directly with customers on resolution of complex technical issues

Advanced knowledge of industrial engine market and the various applications:

Well-organized and self-motivated & able to work in a professional environment with limited direct supervision.

Customer orientation with an ability and willingness to work directly with customers on resolution of complex technical issues is required.

Excellent problem solving and organizational skills with an analytical mind which can apply trouble shooting skills systemically and methodologically to identify root cause and resolve problems.

Proactive by nature with a positive attitude and who works well in a team setting.

Legal right to work in the U.S. with the ability to travel nationally and/or internationally on an occasional basis as required.

Ability to attentively listen and understand issues and concerns from the Customers perspective.

Must be proficient in Microsoft WORD and EXCEL, plus general computer skills.

Must work a full time schedule.

 EDUCATIONAL and/or EXPERIENCE

 An associates or bachelors degree or equivalent experience, 5 to 7 years, required

 LANGUAGE SKILLS

 Excellent English skills an essential requirement

 MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
 Excellent basic math skills required must be proficient with all Microsoft suite of products.
