To Our Valued Customers and Distributors,
Governor Charlie Baker has issued an executive order requiring all non-essential businesses in Massachusetts to close their facilities to workers, customers, and the public. The order is effective from Tuesday, March 24th at 12 p.m. and ends on April 7th. A “stay-at-home” advisory has also been issued and all non-essential employees have been instructed to work from home if applicable.
Governors America Corp. remains open, due to our status as an essential business, as defined by the Department of Homeland Security and Governor Baker’s emergency order:
GAC is committed to keeping our customers operational during this difficult time. Please reach out to us if you have any needs or concerns.
We thank you for your support and hope that everyone stays safe and healthy.

GAC Equipped Mitsubishi S12R, 49.03L, V12 Engine
This S12R engine was equipped with an ACB2001 actuator, ESD5340 full-featured controller and an MSP6728C magnetic speed sensor to precisely regulate the generator frequency used in a marine application.
This system precisely controls engine speed and provides a fast response to transient load changes. It features a powerful actuator drive circuit specifically designed for the ACB2001 actuator that delivers 12 Ft-Lbs. [16.3 Nm] of torque over 35° of shaft rotation.
The ESD5340 Governor – Offers Superior Full Fuel Control from Rated Operating Speed to Low Idle Due to Its Unique Combination of Features Like Dual Gain Adjustment, One for Idle and One for Operating Speed, with Independently Adjustable Acceleration and Deceleration Speed Ramping Controls. The ESD5340 Also Includes.
- A Two Element Speed Switch
- Dual Speed Ramping from Idle to Operating Speed, with Acceleration and Deceleration Adjustments
- Wide Range Speed Control Compatible
- Start Fuel Control for Lower Exhaust Emissions
- Enhanced Start Circuit for Large Bore Engines
- Isochronous, Droop or Variable Speed Governing
- Accessory Inputs for Load Sharing
- High Current Controlled Output, Designed for the ACB2001
- Dual Gain, One at Idle & One at Operating Speed
- Adjustable Chop Frequency for Added Stability

FAQ of the Month: Do GAC’s Speed Controls take time to power on?
The answer is it depends. Analog governors do not take any time to “power on”, i.e. the moment battery power is supplied to the governor, the circuit will function immediately. Digital governors on the other hand, like all processor-based controllers, require a certain amount of time to run through the processor’s startup routine and read EEPROM for its firmware before it is ready to execute any commands. For GAC’s digital governors this “power on” time is strictly controlled within ≤500 ms in order to meet stringent requirements, such as in an emergency backup generator’s startup sequence.
