ALN025 / ALN050 Linear Actuators

ALN025 and ALN050 universal linear actuators provide fast-acting, highly accurate positioning of a shut-off lever or throttle lever. These push-type actuators feature internal return springs and perform both speed control and engine shut-down functions. The field-proven, military-grade, and approved designs are constructed with linear bearings and a minimum number of moving parts. ALN025 and ALN050 actuators are maintenance-free and can be applied to a multitude of applications, they directly replace Woodward / Barber Colman units used on many OEM installations.
The ALN025-12/24 provides 6.5 Lbs. of linear force and replaces Woodward’s DYNA 2000 part numbers:

The ALN050-12/24 provides 13.0 Lbs. of linear force and replaces Woodward’s DYNA 2500 part numbers:

Application of the Month:
Fiat Powertrain Technologies (FPT) has selected the ALN025 actuator and ECC328 speed controller for their 2.9L, 3 cylinder S8000 series engines for emergency and prime power gen-set applications used in both 50 and 60 Hz markets.
The ALN025 actuator is mounted over the pump drive gear housing and is linked to the throttle lever of a Bosch VE pump. The pump’s throttle lever return spring is disconnected giving the actuator full authority of the throttle lever in both directions. The ECC328 electronic governor controls engine speed with the precise response to transient engine load changes with closed-loop speed control using the 40 to 80 Hz input from the generator’s AC frequency for isochronous governing. A magnet pick-up and related wiring is not required, making this high-performance system the most popular alternative for small cost-sensitive applications.

The mounting details on these plates are complete and ready to accept the actuator. The starter mounting plates speed-up and simplify installation and are Zinc plated (per ASTM-B633 Type II) for corrosion resistance.

FAQ: What do GAC Actuator Model Numbers Indicate, What is this Naming Convention?
The first 3 letters in each part number signify the type of product, the type of housing, and the type of connector. Below is a quick legend with some exceptions.
- First Letter – A = Actuator
- Second Letter – Type of Housing
- C = Original or Sand Cast, D = Die Cast (Gen 2), L = Linear
- C = Original or Sand Cast, D = Die Cast (Gen 2), L = Linear
- Third Letter – Connector Type OR Linear Type
- Connector Type:
- ADB – has a Military Connector
- ADC – has a Commercial Connector (ADC100 is an exception, it has a Packard connector)
- ADD – has a Packard Connector
- Connector Type:
Certain actuators have a ‘C’ at the end of the part number like the ADD225GSC to designate that it comes with a mating connector. While some actuators come with a mating connector by default, you should check with GAC to confirm before placing your order.
