DDM101 Dual Driver Module: Supporting fuel and exhaust temperature balancing adjustment to both banks of an engine
Product of the Month

The DDM101 dual actuator accessory module supports fuel and exhaust temperature balancing adjustment to both banks of an engine, enabling each to receive the same amount of fuel and produce the same amount of power.
The DDM101 is typically installed with a pair of ATB T2F throttle body actuators for gaseous fueled applications, or two ACE275K or two ADD175F series actuators for diesel engine fuel control.
The DDM is controlled with a single GAC electronic speed controller (ESD) that receives input from a thermocouple sensor mounted in each exhaust, which provides information used to balance the engine.
Fun in the Field: Total Energy Systems Installs Cummins QST Upgrade
Application of the Month
When a power and gas utility company needed its 1000KW Cummins generator QST30 controller upgraded, Grant Busse and his team from Total Energy Systems of Green Bay, Wisconsin, spent an enjoyable week in the field making sure the system worked perfectly.
Busse said, “The GAC DDM101 works amazing.” It was paired with the GAC ESD5111 speed control to provide a closed-loop system (exhaust temperature feedback). “The adjustment of the DDM101 required some initial time, but it went fine and they work really well. Between 25–100% load their exhaust temps were within less than 5°F.”
Fans of the DDM101 say it is a more reliable and user-accessible solution when compared with other alternatives.
About the Product

The 30.5L – V12 Cummins QST30 engine comes from the factory with a Cummins PCC controller and a Bosch EDC actuator mounted on each injection pump.
GAC’s Dual Driver Module (DDM101) and governor control system is the best alternative given its comparative ease of installation, simple calibration procedure and cost-effective components.

Converting to the GAC system is detailed in the GAC conversion instructions and includes the following general steps:
- Installing an ADD175F actuator on each pump using a KT197 adapter kit.
- Installing a K-Type thermocouple in the exhaust stream of each bank.
- Connecting the actuators, position feedback sensors, and thermocouples to the DDM101 module and ESD5111 governor controller.
The DDM101 uses the input from the two thermocouples and two position sensors to balance and maintain an equal output from both banks of the engine while being controlled by a single governor.
The GAC solution is not compatible with the Cummins PCC controller or the Bosch injection pump-mounted actuators. These systems act as standalone complete dual pump governor systems that do not require interaction with the Cummins controller.

This Month’s Most Requested Application Solution

This month’s number one call for applications solutions was the Cummins QST30 pump replacement. But our surprising second was replacing a Barber Colman governor Detroit Diesel DYNA 8000.
This 6V-92 best replacement uses the GAC ADC225S-24 actuator, controlled with the GAC ESD5111 speed controller. The tried-and-true combination has powered many a Detroit Diesel and is also suitable for V12-71, V8-92 and V12-92 models.
Happenings at GAC

Our Leader’s Promotion
You may not realize it, but our President and CEO, Sean Collins, is also a General in the United States Air Force. He has divided his time between running this successful design and manufacturing company and military service for nearly 30 years.
In May, General Collins became a 2-Star Major General, serving as assistant to the Surgeon General for the Department of the Air Force, Space Force. Having started his career in healthcare 40 years ago, he develops policies and best practices to support this newest military branch, while also providing similar support to the Air National Guard.
Some members of the GAC team were able to attend the ceremony, while the rest of us watched back at the plant. We are so very proud of our leader, and grateful for his service to our country.

Celebrating Independence Day
GAC will be closed on Monday, July 3, and Tuesday, July 4, to allow our employees to enjoy a long weekend with family and friends while celebrating Independence Day. We will reopen on Wednesday, July 5.
